Increased blocked account amount in 2023
The German Government announced new reforms related to blocked account amounts. This reform already goes into effect for visa applications from October 1, 2022 (for the 2023 winter semester).
From 1 January 2023, the monthly required blocked account amount will be €930 instead of €861, while the annual amount will be €11,208 instead of €10,332.
So, this means that international students will be required to block €11,208 to submit a visa application from October 1, 2022 (for the 2023 winter semester). Therefore, arrange your finances accordingly.
